Rewind is a mobile app that turns photos from a date range on your iPhone into a short cassette-themed video reel, set to music. This policy explains what Rewind does with your data. The short version: Rewind does its work on your phone. Your photos never leave your device. We don't run servers that see your reels. We don't build a profile of you and we don't sell your data to anyone — because we don't have your data in the first place.

What data Rewind reads, and where that data goes

Your photo library

Rewind asks for access to your Photos library so it can find photos taken during the date range you pick. It reads the photos, their creation dates, and their EXIF metadata (dates, image dimensions, whether a photo is a Live Photo or screenshot). It uses this to build the reel.

Nothing about your photos leaves your device. Rewind doesn't upload photos to any server. There is no Rewind cloud. The reel is composited directly on your iPhone using Apple's AVFoundation framework.

You can grant Rewind access to your full library or a limited selection through the standard iOS permission prompt. You can change this any time in Settings → Rewind → Photos.

Your music library

Rewind asks for access to your Apple Music library so it can:

• Match songs you've listened to during the reel's date range to your photos (Rewind's "Song Match" feature).

• Play the actual song alongside your reel when you replay it inside the app ("Live Music Mode").

Rewind reads song metadata (title, artist, whether the song was streaming or owned, when you last played it). It does not access other people's listening histories. It does not upload your listening data anywhere.

For streaming Apple Music songs, the reel's exported video is silent by design because streaming audio cannot legally be embedded in third-party video files. The song only plays when you replay the reel inside Rewind, via your existing Apple Music subscription. Reels using songs you own (imported, purchased, voice memos, or Rewind's built-in curated library) do have their audio embedded.

You can change music access any time in Settings → Privacy → Media & Apple Music.

The microphone

If you record a voice memo to use as your reel's soundtrack, Rewind uses the microphone. The audio is saved locally on your device. It is not uploaded anywhere.

You can revoke microphone access in Settings → Rewind → Microphone.

Face and body detection (Vision)

If you turn on "Prioritize People" in the reel Customize options, Rewind uses Apple's on-device Vision framework to detect faces and human bodies in your photos. This helps Rewind rank photos of people higher than photos of landscapes when choosing which photos go in the reel.

All Vision analysis runs on your iPhone's Neural Engine. No photos, thumbnails, or detection results are uploaded to any server, ours or Apple's. When you close the reel, the detection results are discarded.

Spotify (only if you connect it)

If you connect your Spotify account (Settings → Music Sources → Spotify), Rewind uses Spotify's official OAuth flow to authenticate you and read your recently-played tracks so it can match songs to your reel's date range.

Rewind uses the Spotify Web API and Spotify's App Remote SDK in accordance with the Spotify Developer Terms of Service. We store your Spotify access token in the iOS Keychain on your device. We do not send Spotify data to our servers (we don't have any).

You can disconnect Spotify any time from within Rewind's Settings screen.

What we store on your device

Rewind saves the following locally to your iPhone (in UserDefaults or in the app's Documents directory):

• Your saved reels (video files, titles, dates, styles).

• Your app preferences (default reel length, Look & Feel, etc.).

• Your Rewind+ subscription status (via Apple's StoreKit — Apple, not Rewind, tracks this).

• Your OAuth tokens for connected music services (Keychain).

• A local count of how many times you've played each saved reel (used to skip the intro card after 5 plays).

If you delete Rewind, all of this goes with it. There is no cloud backup.

Analytics and tracking

Rewind does not use any third-party analytics SDKs. No Firebase, no Mixpanel, no Amplitude, no Facebook SDK. We do not know how many times you opened Rewind, which features you tapped, or which reels you made.

We do not use advertising identifiers or track your activity across other apps and websites. We do not show ads.

Apple provides basic App Store analytics (aggregate download counts, crash reports if you opted in via iOS Settings → Privacy → Analytics & Improvements). That data is anonymized by Apple and shared with us in aggregate form — we can see "X people crashed on version 1.0.2" but not who or on what device.

Purchases and subscriptions

Rewind offers a Rewind+ subscription ($1.99/month or $19.99/year). Subscriptions are processed by Apple through StoreKit. Rewind does not see your payment card, your Apple ID, or your billing address. Apple sends Rewind a boolean receipt indicating "this user has an active Rewind+ subscription," and that's all we know.

You can cancel your subscription any time through iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions. Rewind cannot process cancellations on your behalf.

Sharing your reels

When you share a reel to Messages, AirDrop, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, or Save to Files/Photos, iOS's built-in share sheet handles the transfer. Rewind hands the destination app the video file plus a link to bigyetigames.com. The destination app then does whatever it does — Rewind doesn't see what happens next.

Children's privacy

Rewind is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to Rewind, please contact us and we'll look into it.

Your rights

• You can revoke any permission you've granted Rewind through iOS Settings at any time.

• You can delete Rewind and remove all local data by uninstalling the app.

• You can cancel Rewind+ through Apple's Subscription Management.

• If you live in California: the CCPA gives you certain rights over your personal information. Since Rewind doesn't have any of your personal information (we operate on-device), there is nothing for you to request — but if you'd like written confirmation of that, email us.

• If you live in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom: the GDPR gives you rights over your personal data. Same disclaimer applies. Contact us with any question.

Third parties we depend on

Rewind relies on the following external services. Each has its own privacy policy that governs its handling of your data:

• Apple Inc. for the App Store, StoreKit (subscriptions), Photos, Apple Music, MediaPlayer, Vision, and iCloud. Apple's Privacy Policy.

• Spotify AB (only if you connect your Spotify account) for song matching and metadata. Spotify's Privacy Policy.

Changes to this policy

If we materially change how Rewind handles data — for example, if we introduce a cloud feature or add analytics — we'll update this policy and note the change in the app's Settings screen. The "Effective date" at the top always reflects the current version.
